Description:
The Science and Technology Facilties Council and the UK Space Agency are by far the two biggest funders of astronomy and space science in the UK. We’re delighted to have both at NAM – and to have their senior staffers telling you about their plans for the future, in what can fairly be described as uncertain times.
Chaired by Professor Mike Lockwood, the RAS President, the Community Session is a rare chance for you to put your questions to some of the people making or at least influencing the big decisions. So do come along – they’re more than happy to take hard questions and take your feedback to their organisations, whether that’s on funding or whether astronomy can ever truly be sustainable. This year we have:
Prof. Grahame Blair, Executive Director, Programmes at STFC
Dr Caroline Harper, Head of Space Science, UK Space Agency
Dr Susan Simon, Director of Capital and Estates, and Chief Environmental Sustainability Officer for the Medical Research Council (MRC)
