As the UK City of Culture 2017, Hull has plenty of things to see and do and we strongly recommend using Visit Hull for more information.
If you like culture, we have a range of museums, galleries and interesting sights to visit. The Museums Quarter is in the heart of old town and hosts three free museums themed on Hull’s history, transport and abolitionist William Wilberforce. Also in old town, Hull Minster is open for visitors daily and some days hosts tower tours with views over Hull, the Humber and beyond. If you prefer art, try Ferens Art Gallery or Humber Street Gallery; Ferens will be hosting its Open Exhibition throughout NAM. We also have The Deep, a large aquarium with a diverse selection of sea life (with a tunnel and glass lift passing through the biggest tank!)
Likewise, if you fancy seeing Hull on foot, Visit Hull have a selection of self-guided trails with maps and information. Trails include the Blitz Trail, which shows important sights from World War II, the Fish Trail which sees 40+ pieces of fish artwork scattered across the City Centre and the newest release – The Hullywood Trail – which shows off Hull’s involvement in the film and TV industry.
Finally, the LOC have compiled an interactive Google map with our recommended places for food and drink as well as bus stops to get between campus, its surrounding areas and city centre. Further information about getting around by bus during your stay can be found on our travel page. We’ve also tried very hard to narrow down our top food and drink highlights (it was hard to choose!) separated by area and we hope that this is helpful for everyone visiting Hull for the first time!
